WORKCOVER NSW REHABILITATION COORDINATOR’S COURSE

Course Content:

  • Explain the Role of the Return to Work Coordinator
  • Identify the key steps in developing a return to work program
  • List the main components of the WorkCover Scheme
  • Be aware of the principles of premium calculation
  • Identify key issues in working with doctors and providers

Certification:

Successful participants will receive a WorkCover accredited certificate of completion. Participants must attend all sessions to be eligible for a certificate.

FOLLOW HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITY PROCEDURES (CUFSAF01A)

Aim:

By the end of the OHS training course for film & television production participants will possess the knowledge & skills to:

  • systematically manage their occupational health & safety and injury management compliance requirements for specific productions;
  • through an understanding and application of the OHS legislation and safe systems of work in identifying hazards, assessing the risk of hazards and implementing elimination and/or risk controls through consultation provisions.

Objectives:

Participants will demonstrate the essential knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Legislative framework  - Act & Regulations; Codes of practice (legislative & industry including Film & Television Safety Code (1983) and Occupational Risk Management in the Film & Television Industry Guidelines (2004)
  • Causes of workplace incidents, accidents and injuries in the film & tv industry
  • Nature of significant hazards & risk exposures
  • Safe system of work elements
  • Risk management – hazard identification, risk assessment and risk elimination/control for specific productions
  • Other OHS related policies: smoking, substance & alcohol, bullying & harassment

Course Content:

  • Regulatory Framework
    • OHS Act; OHS Regulation; Codes of Practice legislative and industry; Film Industry Safety Code 1983; Standards; Draft Occupational  Risk Management in the Film & Television Industry (2004)
  • Nature and management of significant hazards & risk exposures in film & tv production
    • Manual handling, slips/trips/falls, electricity, fire, hazardous substances, working at height, filming on roadways, filming in and around general public and public places; filming with children and animals, film equipment etc
  • Duty of care, due diligence and chain of responsibility
  • Management commitment & OHS responsibilities
  • Safe system of work
    • OHS Policy; Consultation & communication; Competencies & Crew engagement; Inductions & training; Risk management: Hazard identification, Risk Assessment, Elimination/Control &Evaluation; Safety reports & safety supervisors; First Aid & Emergency response; Incident and accident reporting & Injury Management; System documentation & recording
  • Safe system of work and risk management application: production  case study

Delivery

Course delivery and participant support will be provided through a face to face component (4 hours) and via on-line and telephone to allow participants to work at their own pace and apply it to a specific production.

Course materials

Participants will be provided with an OHS for Film & Television Training Notes & Workbook and an interactive Risk Management for Film & TV Productions CD-ROM.

Trainer and assessor

Peter Wasson B.A., Grad.Dip.Ed., Grad. Dip. Media., Cert. IV  in OHS., Cert. IV in Workplace Training & Assessment. Peter Wasson through OHS Media Services Pty Ltd is an OHS Practitioner and trainer for the film & television industry. Mr Wasson is also a qualified and experienced producer with some 20 years experience in the film & television industry.

Course assessment & evaluation

The course assessment will include assessment of work activities incorporated in the Workbook and the Risk Management CDROM.

Course certification & cost

On successful completion of the course assessment participants will receive the Statement of Attainment -Follow health, safety & security procedures (CUFSAF01A) - from the Certificate IV in Screen. The statement of attainment is issued under the auspices of the ABC’s registered training organization. The fee for the course at the statement of attainment level is $375 plus GST.

Alternatively, participants can complete the course and receive a certificate of completion for a fee of $275 plus GST. On receipt of payment participants will be registered into training program and receive their course materials.
